Nottingham mammography staff receive five more chairs

The breast screening department at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust has added another five Vela mammography chairs to its existing fleet. Vela says that staff were so pleased to receive the new chairs they stopped their lunchbreak in order to help wheel them in.

Specialist radiographer and lead mammographer Vickie Sanderson commented: “We just all love the chair here at the department. It is so easy to manoeuvre and really helps us to overcome the huge flow of many different patients. We occasionally also use the chair for shorter transfers, for example bringing the patient from the waiting room to the examination.

“We are looking into the possibility of getting a chair in each of our other examination rooms, because the need to handle elderly and larger patients is becoming more and more of an issue for staff.”
